Registration of Student Organizations

The registration and support of student organisations and services are provided by the Office of the Dean of Students. Students may form associations and clubs, but they should check to see if there is already an existing organisation that meets their needs. Student organisations are advised to have their calendar of events/activities coordinated by the office of the Assistant Deans of Students. Through these organisations students have been able to participate in community activities, professionally related events, organise cultural week events, exchange visits with students in other institutions, attend  conferences and meetings, and generally develop their social, and other skills.

So far, the clubs and societies running are as follows:

    Christian Union
    Young Christian Society
    Environment Club
    Wildlife Club
    Scouting

We invite you to get involved by contacting your campus sports master/dean of students today!

Dress Code

The Lukenya College brand has been built up since 2014 and we will all share in the benefits of the strength of the brand so we must sustain it wherever possible, especially within the LC. We are all required to be dressed and presented appropriately at all times. To that end, all of our students will be expected to wear suitable office wear. Some work requires the use of safety clothing and PE kit.

Our definition:

    A suit (a jacket with matching dress/skirt/trousers which must be made of the same material);
    Jackets must be worn to school and any coats may only be worn in communal circulation areas on the ground floor;
    Hoodies are never classed as business wear. Jumpers tops may be worn, but these must be plain or with a simple pattern and not display any large logo;
    A shirt and tie (gentlemen) or a collared shirt/ blouse (ladies);
    Skirt and dress lengths must be no more than 5cm above the knee;
    Shoes must be formal in style, smart in appearance and either flat or low-heeled consistent with health and safety considerations;
    Jewellery should be kept to a minimum, consistent with good taste and safety. Apart from pierced ears, no other facial jewellery is permitted.

Work-Based Placements / Attachments

Work experience for students normally takes place at different times depending on each course. However, given the pandemic, we are reviewing this arrangement and advising students accordingly.  The purpose of work experience is to give students an understanding of the working environment and an insight into a variety of education institutions, industries and related careers. Students also often find seeing how their academic and practical learning is applied in the workplace very useful for their studies.

We will support each student in finding the right placement, and our work experience assessment staff will monitor your progress, visit the workplace to carry out regular progress reviews and support your completion of the placement.
